Q: I
know that S.T. Dupont in connection with Cohiba produced
a limited edition cutter and lighter with the Cohiba logo. I
believe this was for the anniversary of Cohiba. Could you
please tell me what the cost would be of one of those
cutters or lighters. (Mark, USA 01/98)
A:You
are right. ST Dupond produced a limited edition cutter and
lighter with the Cohiba logo. These items are hard to find.
The prices were between 350 and 400 USD. If you are
interested in purchasing a cutter or a lighter, we can ask
our distribution partners to try to find something for you.

Q: I
am currently looking for the Partagas 150 year
anniversary edition humidor. I understand it comes with the
humidor and 150 different cigars in different sizes. Could
you please tell me where I might be able to purchase this
humidor and what the price might be?
(Mark, USA 02/98)
A:
The
info is true. These humidors were sold at many famous cigar
stores. Actually they are hard to find. There are still some
boxes displayed in a couple of fine boutiques but they are
not for sale. If you're lucky, you can find something at
Christies' in London, it will be at the auction sales.

Q: I
happen to know a former Canadian ambassador and we were
talking over dinner about Cohiba Lanceros -- I had seen a TV
spot on them and how they were being offered commercially
for sale. To my surprise he told me that he had two boxes of
them, each acquired seperately. They were given to heads of
state by Fidel Castro, one in Ghana and one somewhere else,
with the name of the head and country on the label.
After that they made their way to him. He has smoked about
half of each box over the years but is interesting in
selling the remainder and asked me to look into it. Though I
am not a member of your club, I was wondering if you could
tell me whether the cigars are worth anything, if they are
worth more because they were gifts given by Fidel Castro,
and where I would look to find a buyer? (Robert, Canada
02/98)
A:The
fact that the cigars were offered by Castro is an excellent
point. His signature on the box makes them worthy of being
sold in an auction sale ! The most important things to check
are: Is the box damaged ? Are the cigars still in a good
condition ? For a small quantity the best way to sell is by
word of mouth.
Our
experts at the Cigars-of-Cuba Club are ready to give a free
evaluation for your cigars; moreover, we can put them on our
website pages and try to sell them for you as " a
member's special private collection" but you have to
send them to our offices for the evaluation first.

Q: When
will you be able to support Trinidad cigars, as the're
coming to the regular market. Do you already accept
reservations for these cigars, do you already have an idea
of the price ? Please let me know. (Johan, Belgium
02/98)
A:Trinidad
is not available in Europe yet. They will be available in
Canada and Mexico first. Our correspondants came back from
Cuba with 20 boxes of TRINIDAD. We are not offering them to
our club members. We're still waiting to receive more from
Cuba. If you want to reserve your box you just have to mail
us. The 24 cigars SBN box stands at around $490 and the 50
cigars Cabinet is around $900.
